Local Bookstore Fun

July 14, 2006

Christa and I ventured over to the Full Circle Bookstore in 50 Penn Place this evening. She planned to read The Count of Monte Cristo while I gathered information for an upcoming APWA presentation. The quietness of the bookstore’s cafe was slowly interupted by a gathering crowd of Celtic music lovers. Soon we overheard that tonight’s fun was going to be a Celtic jam session… Looking at the first few arrivals, I wasn’t looking forward to what would come.

Boy was I surprised. By the time they all began playing (about an hour and a half after the first arrivals), there were fifteen splendid musicians playing old Celtic tunes on their mandolins, fiddles, guitars, flutes, drums and banjo. The organizer of the group had a large amount of sheet music ready for the players, and they played this music well.

Our night turned out more fun that we could have imagined. We also picked up a couple good books (or so we hope).

Frank Lloyd Wright by Ada Louise Huxtable and Downtown: Its Rise and Fall, 1880 - 1950 by Robert M. Fogelson.

Why is that I keep adding to my reading stack but never pull any out to read?

Dear Paul % Christa,What a find. Butch meets with a group like that on Sun.night.He wears his kilt of course. A 80 yr. old harp player comes from Helena every week. A lot of the others are from MSU. Hope things are going well. I took Brian to lunch at Margarritas today. Love from grandma

Sounds like a really good time! Glad you two are finding things to do that do not cost money.

Love,
Mom
