Power!

We have power again!
We went about 68 hours without power here. Some of our neighbors still do not have power. As happy as I am to have it back, I have to feel for those in the City who still don’t.
I can see, however, that OG&E is not necessarily being selective in its mission. The rich section of the neighborhood is just as power-less as the poor section to the north.

Ice Storm 2007 (The Repeat)

The ice is causing quite a few problems in our historic neighborhood. The crashing ice and limbs cause quite a stir every few minutes.

I took this around 4:00 pm on Sunday the 9th… the Ice Storm is actually taking shape as an actual storm for Oklahoma City. Hopefully I can get a few more good pictures in the morning.

Ice Storm 2007 (The Repeat)
We’re sitting at home this Sunday morning due to Ice Storm 2007, as KOCO is calling it.
Christa remembered that the ice storm that occurred around January 12, 2007 was also called Ice Storm 2007 by KOCO and others… They might want to check their own records.
We woke up at 6:40 am for church, but quickly realized that it might not be smart to drive 20 minutes when the ice was just beginning to fall. Currently, at 9:15 am, we are receiving a steady freezing rain with some thunder in the background. Looks like we made a good decision to stay home.
Knowing that we were not going anywhere, we decided to settle in and watch KOCO for a good two hours. The Ice Storm 2007 weathergasm had begun!
On a related note - I did a Google search for “weathergasm” this morning and found that Meer Macatawa shows up third. Cool. One of the other sites I found introduced the Weathergasm 5800:

Here in Oklahoma, the sarcastic point made regarding Weathergasm 5800 is spot on. Each TV station has its quirks, but they all generally get extremely over-hyped when it comes to possible severe weather.
I recall numerous occasions last winter when the server weather forecasts were ominous, but only ended up yielding small amounts of precipitation… I’d rather have my expectations exceeded than unfulfilled.
